5 Skincare Resolutions for the New Year

New Year, New Skin!

Beauty trends come and go, but happy, healthy skin is always in! The new year is a great reminder to re-evaluate our skincare routines and set new skin goals.

We put together 5 easy ways to rejuvenate your skincare routine that you can start implementing now! Plus, by starting off the new year with these resolutions, you can build these into habits that stick with you not just for the 1st week of January, but for the rest of the year!

We won't waste your time. Let's jump straight into it!

1. Clean out your skincare stash

Let's be honest, everyone (including ourselves) probably has a massive skincare stockpile filled with products. Skincare products don't last forever, and you definitely don't want to be putting expired products on your lovely face!

We recommend going through your skincare collection once every 3-4 months, keeping your favorites and products you regularly use on a daily/weekly basis.

You can make regular cleaning easier by writing the date you opened the product on the tube or jar with a permanent marker.

2. Moisturize both morning and night

Moisturing is one of the best things you can do for your skin. It rehydrates and locks in much-needed moisture into the skin that prevents unnecessary damage.

Most people moisturize in the morning, but it's important to also moisturize at night since by doing so, you restore the moisture your skin lost throughout the day, and allow the skin to repair overnight.

Keeping skin moisturized at all times even if you have oily skin is essential for healthy cell turnover and also fighting signs of aging too.

3. Wear sunscreen every single day

If you're a regular follower of our blogs, then you know we can never say this enough: wear sunscreen every single day! It's one of the single most important things you can do for your skin.

Even on cloudy days, apply a nice layer of SPF 30 to your face and neck. Add it into your routine after your moisturizer or primer.

It goes without saying that you can also apply sunscreen to the other parts of your body that get exposed to the sun as well! There is a whole slew of benefits we could bore you with, but we'll save you the details.

4. Exfoliate regularly

While the saying 'less is more' is definitely true when it comes to exfoliation, it doesn't mean you can't make exfoliation a regular, routine part of your life.

Exfoliation is essential for removing dead skin cells and improving cell turnover to reveal fresh, happy, and healthy skin. With that said, you definitely don't want to overdo it, especially if you have sensitive skin. For most people, exfoliation 1x per week is enough to reap amazing benefits, without experiencing any added irritation.

With that said, always experiment with what works for your skin.

5. Use treatments to address your skin concerns

What's amazing about skincare in 2023, is that for almost any skin concern, there is an ingredient or product for you, and you should absolutely take advantage of that!

You can find amazing creams and serums with active ingredients that directly address your concerns, and fit seamlessly into your existing skincare routine. For example, if you're looking to address wrinkles, you might try adding a Retinol cream to your nightly skincare routine.

Another example might be using a cleanser with Salicylic Acid to unclog pores and address noninflammatory acne such as blackheads.

You know your skin better than anyone else, so find a product or two that can help you tackle your skin concerns head-on, and add it to your routine!
